Simulating Social Behaviour Implementing Agents Endowed with Values and Drives

چکیده
Abstract. We present a working model of agent’s social behaviour based on drives and values. Drives represent internal needs of the agents; values are used to prioritise them. Discussed in the context of a simulation scenario centred around smoking behaviour in public places, the designed system proves itself useful to tackle issues where agents face conflicting decision’s choices, or where agent’s behaviour has negative side-e↵ects for other agents.

Raising Agents: Sources of Human Social Intelligence
This paper urges that if we wish to give social intelligence to our agents, it pays to look at how we acquired our social intelligence ourselves. Our drives and motives are innate and deeply social. Next, as children we are socialized to acquire norms and values. This motivational and group-based life is the core of our being in the real world. As a consequence, economic rationality or logical ...
متن کاملThe Impact of Social Commerce Determinants on Social Capital for Energy Sectors
This study investigates the constructs and related theories that drive social capital in energy sector from the intention perspectives. This research uses theories of ‘social support’ and ‘planned behaviour’ alongside satisfaction and perceived value to propose a research model that drives social capital for energy sectors in Malaysia. The model reveals that the Theories of Planned Behaviour (T...

The aim of this paper is to consider what constitutes agent-based modelling (ABM) and how this can relate to archaeological reasoning. The development and construction of ABM models is an essential prerequisite for most archaeological reasoning. Both directly and indirectly, archaeologists are making extensive use of ideas and methods in applications that derive from archaeological, anthropolog...
متن کاملSimulating Norms, Social Inequality, and Functional Change in Artificial Societies
In this paper, we compare the computational and sociological study of norms, and resimulate previous simulations (Conte and Castelfranchi 1995a, Castelfranchi, Conte and Paolucci 1998) under slightly different conditions. First, we analyze the relation between norms, social inequality and functional change more closely. Due to our results, the hypothesis stating that the "finderkeeper" norm whi...
متن کاملTowards a Society of Affect-driven Agents
We describe a hybrid agent architecture capable of simulating emotional behaviour. Agents have certain fixed personality traits, which influence emotion levels as well as relationships with other agents. Changes in emotions are modelled through propagation in an emotion network. We extend a standard action representation to include emotional preconditions and effects. Results from a test-bed en...
